Frequently Asked Questions

What work can go into my portfolio?
  • Your portfolio may include work you've done during this school year or previously, in class or out of class, as long as you have not submitted it to an AP portfolio previously.

Can we work collaboratively?
  • No. All work in your portfolio must be work created only by you.

Can I submit work for Drawing that I submitted to 2D Design last year?
  • No. Each portfolio exam must be unique. Do not submit the same work in more than one portfolio exam.

Can I use references from the internet?
  • No. You can get ideas from the internet, but then you should take your own reference photos, if you need them. It is unethical, constitutes plagiarism, and often violates copyright law to simply copy a work of art (even in another medium) that was made by someone else and represent it as your own work.

Can I title my artwork if I want to?
  • Yes. When labeling your artwork, you will include the dimensions and media. If you want to include a title or other text, add it after the media.

What are the image size requirements for digital images?
  • Recommended Minimum: 480x480
  • Recommended Maximum: 530x780
  • Recommended: 72ppi
  • Maximum File Size: 3.0MB
