Quality Portfolio

SELECTED WORKS: A body of five works that best represents your accomplishments.

What makes a Quality Portfolio?

  • DEPTH OF VISUAL UNDERSTANDING
The five works of art selected show an in-depth understanding of and engagement with 2D, 3D, or Drawing issues in their concept, composition, and execution.
  • WORKING THROUGH A VISUAL IDEA IN DIFFERENT WAYS
Reorganize, restructure, or use more than one approach to solving the visual problem. Make different organizational decisions across works. The works should feel like siblings from the same parents. They speak to each other, but are not the same.

Quality Guidelines for Submission

2D

Drawing

3D

  • Mat or mount any works on paper, preferably on a neutral colored matboard
  • Mount works smaller than 8" x 10" on backing at least 8" x 10" to ensure they aren't overlooked in the portfolio.
  • Use fixative on works that may smudge (charcoal, chalk pastel, etc.)
  • Cover any work that has a delicate surface with an overleaf fastened only to one edge so it can be lifted easily.
  • Unstretch canvas and back with matboard
  • The home address you provide in the Studio Art Digital Submission Web Application is the address the portfolio will be retired to in late June or July. Your work cannot be shipped to a PO Box.

  • Submit two digital images of 5 works.
  • 10 total images
  • The second image of each work should be taken from a different vantage point than the first view. (Demonstrates an understanding of a sculpture as a 3D object whose sides are as important as its front)
  • The second image can be a detail, if the detail informs the evaluator about a particular aspect of the work

DIGITAL IMAGE DIMENSIONS
  • Recommended Minimum: 480x480
  • Recommended Maximum: 530x780
  • Recommended: 72ppi
  • Maximum File Size: 3.0MB
