Project Options

Experimental Film

CREATE A VIDEO OF YOUR OWN MAKING THAT STRINGS TOGETHER BEAUTIFUL, HORRIBLE, SPECIFIC, MEMORABLE MOMENTS. You will choose the mood, setting, characters, etc.
  • 2-5 Minutes in length
  • Footage captured by you
  • Varied shot length (at least 3)
  • At least one instance of intentional framing
  • At least two shot angles (low, high, tilt, etc.)
  • At least two different lighting styles
  • At least one instance of intentional color
  • Edited in a non-linear sequence to break narrative conventions
  • Has a soundtrack

Genre Mash-up

USE FOUND FOOTAGE TO RE-EDIT A TV SHOW OR MOVIE INTO A NEW GENRE. CREATE A TRAILER FOR THE SHOW/MOVIE.
  • Found footage visuals all from one source show or movie (multiple episodes okay)
  • All visuals are found footage
  • Edit the trailer to make the show/movie appear to be in a different genre (horror to romantic comedy, etc.)
  • Use the editing genre conventions to achieve your goals.
  • Framing, pacing, lighting, color, and sound can all be manipulated
  • Create a new title sequence to fit the genre
  • 1-2 minutes in length

Soundscape

USE NON-MUSICAL FOUND FOOTAGE WITH CLEAR SOUND TO CREATE A NEW, UNIQUE MUSICAL SCORE.
  • 1-2 minutes in length
  • No found music can be heard in your clips
  • Sound matches visuals, not separated
  • Multiple layers of sound created (beat track, melodic track, etc.)
  • Uses split screen with black borders to visualize at least two tracks/beats at one time
  • Rhythmically consistent, like music
  • Visuals are not too repetitive. Switches visuals between beat track, melodic track, and high tones to create variety.
