Value Portrait Drawing with Pattern Background

In this unit, students will create a graphite photo-realistic portrait with a pattern background.

The unit includes five exercises, one finished composition, a rubric and reflection.

Value Blending Exercise

This exercise allows you to practice blending values with no visible pencil lines. You will also apply this skill to an oval to create the illusion of a three-dimensional egg-shaped form.
   You'll need:
  • Worksheet
  • Graphite drawing Pencil
  • Tortillon (handmade or machine-made)
