Giant Paper MachéPaper Maché is a three dimensional medium using paper and adhesive for construction.
Students will create one three dimensional sculpture as a class. The unit requires students work together as a team, engineer a larger-than-life sculpture that is balanced and moveable, and paint a finish on the surface that is exciting and precise. |

Researching for your Creature DesignYOUR CREATURE SHOULD BE JUST ABOUT TO EAT THE SMALLER SCULPTURES FROM THE OTHER CLASSES (HANGING IN SPACE ABOVE OUR LARGE SCULPTURE).
YOUR CREATURE SHOULD EMERGE FROM THE GROUND (WE WON'T SEE ALL OF THE BODY). YOU SHOULD DRAW A LINE TO INDICATE THE ANGLE AT WHICH IT EXITS THE GROUND. REMEMBER DYNAMIC MOTION, STRONG NEGATIVE SPACE, CLEAR CHARACTER FEATURES. USE THREE TYPES OF REFERENCES: THAI HIMMAPAN CREATURES, MEXICAN ALEBRIJE SCULPTURES, AND THE ORIGINAL ANIMALS YOU ARE REFERENCING. LOOK UP PHOTOS OF THE ANIMAL. |
