TECHNICAL SKILLS VIDEOS

Grading Criteria

INSTRUCTION

  • CHOOSE A MATERIAL (hard stone, hardwood, softwood)
  • DESIGN YOUR PROJECT (draw your design to scale)
  • CUT THE EXTERIOR FORM (after transferring your design to your final material, cut away the excess material)
  • CARVE INTERIOR RECESSES (after working the outside of the form, work the inside of the form)
  • CARVE DETAILS (after achieving the main form, carve details into the surface)
  • MAKE IT FUNCTIONAL (if your project is a sculpture, it should stand on its own; if your project is a pendant, it should hang)
  • FINISH THE SURFACE (regardless of the material, you should work the finished surface to an intentional end - often that is polishing to a shine)
