TIPS

INSTRUCTION

  • DRAW THE PATTERN (use a sharpie or other bold line instrument)
  • MAKE COPIES (photocopy the pattern)
  • CUT THE PATTERN (use the foil scissors - they cut out the exact gap you want to remove)
  • CUT THE GLASS (score the glass, then tap and snap)
  • GRIND EDGES (use the grinder or chomping pliers to refine shapes as needed)
  • WRAP EACH PIECE OF GLASS IN FOIL (try to get the same amount of foil on either side of the glass; smooth the foil so that it is fully adhered to the glass)
  • PIN THE GLASS (make sure all glass pieces are touching well and tightly secured)
  • FLUX (use the ruby flux to coat the visible copper foil)
  • SOLDER (solder the corners first, then solder the long seams)
  • FINISHING (consider how you want to use it - if you want to hang it, solder links to the edge)

ADVANCED IDEAS

  • NOT FLAT (DIMENSIONAL PARTS)
  • IRREGULAR EDGES
  • MULTIPLE PANES
