Grading Criteria

INSTRUCTION

  • MAKE A SET OF 3+ RINGS (they should be unique individuals, but linked by design elements)
  • MATCHING DESIGN ELEMENTS (all 3+ rings should have design elements that repeat across each ring)
  • UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS (the rings should not be duplicates of each other, but variations on a theme)
  • SOLDERING (each ring should be soldered at least 2+ times)
  • FINISHING (file, sand, buff, and polish your finished rings)

ADVANCED IDEAS

  • RINGS INCORPORATE STONE, WOOD, OR NON-METAL ELEMENTS
  • ENGRAVE DESIGNS ON THE OUTSIDE METAL ELEMENTS (use engraving tools to carve details into the metal surface)
  • CHASE THE METAL INSIDE THE BAND (consider using the inside of the band as a design surface)
  • TEXTURE (textured surfaces contrasting smooth surfaces)
